The Day Program is a mix of volunteer experiences, job readiness exploration, community integration and self-enrichment activities.
Volunteer Experiences:
- Volunteer sites can be either independent, using natural support, or staff supervised
- Individuals are trained on tasks and assessed on their progress
- The assessments are used as a blueprint to identify future employment interests
Job Readiness Exploration:
- Individuals visit area businesses to determine interests and learn about opportunities
- Activities include computer skills training, mock interviews, resume writing, literacy training and self-determination curriculum
Community Integration:
- Travel training
- Dance fitness classes through Baltimore City Recreation & Parks Therapeutic Division
- Special Olympics
- Visits to: parks, museums, local attractions, eateries, etc.
Self-Enrichment Activities:
- Self-advocacy
- Health and wellness
Case Management:
- Oversees service delivery
- Communicates with the individual’s family, advocates, and stakeholders as needed
- Attend individuals’ annual PCP (Person Centered Plan)
- Works with direct staff to support the individual with achieving outcomes and goals, as developed by the individual and team
